Rusty (born in May 1997) has been my teacher and inspiration for behavior modification. He is the foundation of "Good Dog!"

Training

Training methods

I only use the positive and gentle training techniques that reward the dog for its good behavior. Dogs learn best without experiencing physical or emotional discomfort. This form of training will help you keep your dogs happily obedient with a desire to learn new behavior. Treats are used only to teach new behavior and will be weaned as soon as possible to prevent "treat dependency". I don't use choke collars, pinch collars and electric shock collars, no exceptions. These tools hurt instead of teach and belong in the past. The emphasis is respect for the humans and individual dog(s), regarding breed, health, personality and age. Your dog will learn based on success, rather than on failure; the smaller the steps, the faster the progress.

Why Private Training

Your training expectations

  • Dogs are most relaxed in their own environment: less distraction to make learning easier
  • It allows the whole family to be present so every member gets a firsthand experience.
  • I can meet the true dog in its own environment where most of "the issues" occur.
  • One-on-one time without watching the clock or other distractions.
  • Private training is highly effective to introduce a new dog or puppy into your household.
  • Consultations can be scheduled in a flexible way; days, evenings or weekends at your convenience, depending on your dog and family's needs.
  • More than one lesson a week possible, benefitting from your dog's learning capacity
